Race 3 – Position 19

The team had a great start to the weekend, sitting at the top of the times for the majority of the Practice 1 session and finishing with a P3 result.

Qualifying P12, Holdsworth began the 25 Lap Race from Row 6, but a change in car direction made it tough for the driver to hold his position, falling down the order after the Compulsory Pit Stop.

Holdsworth was disappointed with the P19 result as the team had tried a different direction this weekend but hadn’t had enough track time to get it right.

Race 4 – Position 15

The Team undertook a lot of work on the #18 overnight to get it ready for Saturday’s two Races, the first of which was plagued by bad weather and began under Safety car.

Starting from P15, Holdsworth held his position over the relatively quiet Race’s 13 laps to finish where he began.

Race 5 – Position 19

Saturday’s dawn 25 lap Race was littered with rain and a great call by the Team for a second pit for wet tyres saw them move up 5 places, but the rain didn’t stick around quite enough for the strategy to pay off and Holdsworth finished P19.

Race 6 – Position 23

In the quick final 13 lap Race that was later shortened, the #18 suffered a damper failure on Lap 2.

The car was worked on in the garage and Holdsworth rejoined in P23, but finished two laps down.

“ONE OF TOUGHEST WEEKENDS THAT I CAN REMEMBER. WE STRUGGLED GETTING THE SETUP RIGHT TO THE FAST FLOWING AGP TRACK AND COULDN’T GET THE CAR IN THE WINDOW FOR AN OPTIMUM RESULT. PRACTICE 1 WAS A GREAT START BUT IT FOOLED US A LITTLE BIT AND TOOK US ON A PATH THAT THE SETTINGS DIDN’T SUIT OUR CAR OR THE TRACK. VERY FRUSTRATING WEEKEND AND CERTAINLY LEARNT A LOT ABOUT THE NEW SETUP OF OUR CAR. CAN’T WAIT TO GET DOWN TO TASSIE WHERE WE GENERALLY ALWAYS PERFORM WELL.” – CHARLIE SCHWERKOLT

Preston Hire Racing will now prepare for the Tasmania SuperSprint, to be held on the 6 – 8 of August.
