Preston Hire Racing’s Lee Holdsworth is prepared for a strong return to Hidden Valley Raceway at the Darwin TripleCrown for Round 6 of the Supercars Championship.
Holdsworth is prepared to return to the same track that last year saw his horror crash sit him on the Sidelines for 3 months.
The Number 18 Driver was pushed off track on the opening lap and hit the wall, fracturing his pelvis, ribs and injuring his knee which resulted in him requiring a wheelchair for several weeks.
Holdsworth is confident he will return to Hidden Valley better than ever this year and is looking to cement some solid results inside the Top 10 during Round 6.
“I ALWAYS LOOK FORWARD TO HEADING BACK TO DARWIN FOR A FEW REASONS – THE WEATHER, THE TOWN, AND OF COURSE THEIR COOL RACE TRACK. EVEN THOUGH LAST YEAR WAS A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE, IT HASN’T CHANGED MY OPINION OF HIDDEN VALLEY. IT’S ONE OF THE MOST CHALLENGING CIRCUITS FOR CAR SETUP AND REQUIRES A TECHNICAL DRIVING APPROACH WITH ITS VARIATION OF CORNER STYLES.”
The Preston Hire Racing team had a consistent weekend at their latest round, the Winton SuperSprint, with a P10 & P11 Race Result which pushed Holdsworth from 17th to 12th in the Championship Standings.
Team Owner Charlie Schwerkolt holds no grudges against the Darwin Track, and is looking forward to heading back to the Northern Territory with what he believes is an improved Race Car.
“DARWIN WAS OUR WORST RACE LAST YEAR, WE HAD THE HORRIFIC CRASH WHICH UNFORTUNATELY INJURED LEE AND ALSO WROTE OFF OUR VF COMMODORE. WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO GETTING BACK TO ONE OF OUR FAVOURITE EVENTS IN THE SIZZLING NORTHERN TERRITORY AND GETTING SOME GREAT RESULTS. LEE WILL BE OUT TO REDEEM HIS CONTINUED PERFORMANCE AND I REALLY THINK WE WILL HAVE A QUICK CAR, CAN’T WAIT!”
Holdsworth and the Preston Hire Racing Team are prepared for the Darwin Triple Crown on June 16 to 18, with all races to be televised LIVE on Fox Sports.
