Lee Holdsworth is looking forward to wrapping up the Supercars Championship on a high as he heads into the first ever Newcastle 500 event.
Holdsworth is looking forward to the challenges of a brand new track, with the first impressions of the circuit described as many of the field as extremely tough.
“WHAT A WAY TO END THE YEAR – NOT JUST A NEW VENUE BUT A SERIOUSLY TRICKY LOOKING STREET TRACK. WITH NO TEAMS HOLDING ANY PRIOR DATA OR KNOWLEDGE OF THE CIRCUIT, WE HAVE A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO END THE YEAR ON A REAL HIGH.”
Team Owner Charlie Schwerkolt believes Holdsworth and the team can close out the Supercars Championship on a positive note after a series of tough rounds.
The brand new street circuit has unknown characteristics that will play into the favour of many of the smaller teams, as no drivers have ever competed on the Newcastle track before.
“FIRST NEW TRACK ON THE CALENDAR FOR MANY YEARS, THE WHOLE TEAM AT SUPERCARS AND IEDM HAVE DONE AN AMAZING JOB TO PUT THIS TOGETHER. THE CIRCUIT HAS A BREATH TAKING PACIFIC OCEAN BACK DROP, ELEVATIONS, TIGHT HAIR PIN AND A FAST FLOWING LAY OUT WHICH WILL PROVIDE SOME REALLY EXCITING RACING. EVEN PLAYING FIELD FOR EVERYONE AND WITH OUR RECENT FORM AT STREET CIRCUIT EVENTS, I BELIEVE LEE WILL BE ON THE MONEY. WHILST IT’S BEEN A CHALLENGING 2017 SEASON HOPEFULLY WE CAN FINISH ON A REAL HIGH WITH A GREAT RESULT.”
Preston Hire Racing is now preparing for the Newcastle 500 on November 24-26.
