Lee Holdsworth is hunting for a second positive result following his P8 finish at the Gold Coast 600, as he returns to sprint format at the Auckland SuperSprint for Round 14 of the Supercars Championship.

Holdsworth is looking forward to heading across the Tasman to contest some positive results after building on Car 18’s pace at the Gold Coast 600.

The Preston Hire Racing drivers goal for the weekend is to finish within the Top Ten, and close the second-last round off strong.

Holdsworth is currently 16th in the Supercars Championship after falling from 11th with two DNF Results, one a freak mechanical failure at the Bathurst 1000 and another from the unforgiving chicanes at the Gold Coast 600.

“REALLY PUMPED TO GET BACK TO PUKEKOHE. SUCH A FAST, TOUGH BUMPY LITTLE TRACK BUT AWESOME TO DRIVE. WE FOUND SOME PACE AT THE GC AND I’M AIMING TO BUILD ON THAT IN NEW ZEALAND. THE SEASON IS NEARLY OVER SO IT’S IMPORTANT FOR US TO FINISH STRONG.”

Charlie Schwerkolt is keen to see how his team performs at their second Auckland SuperSprint, using last years tyre on a newly laid track.

The Supercars field is set to be shaken up over the weekend, with the new track surface producing a new slate for the teams engineers.

“PUMPED TO GO TO OUR FIRST AND ONLY INTERNATIONAL EVENT FOR 2017. USING LAST YEAR’S 2016 HARD TYRE I THINK LEE WILL BE QUITE COMPETITIVE AND WITH A LOT OF NEW PAVEMENT LAID IT PUSHES THE RESET BUTTON ON THE ENGINEERING EXPERTISE FOR THIS TIGHT LITTLE TRACK.”
