Preston Hire Racing’s Lee Holdsworth will be joined by Karl Reinder and a new head-turning livery for the beginning of the Pirtek Endurance Cup at the Sandown 500 for Round 10 of the Supercars Championship.
The Preston Hire Racing Retro Livery will stand out as a “Old Vs New” take on the Sandown Event, with Holdsworth’s Commodore taking on the historic name and colour of Preston Erection.
Previously named Preston Erection from 1969 until 2001 and brandished in pink when servicing the Sydney Metro area, Preston Hire are giving the Supercars audience a look into their early beginnings before political correctness kicked in.
Team Owner Charlie Schwerkolt is looking forward to debuting the Preston Hire Racing Retro Livery at one of his favourite events.
“CAN’T BELIEVE WE HAVE REACHED THE ENDURO POINT OF THE SEASON, ONE OF MY FAVOURITE TIMES OF THE YEAR. WITH THE RIGHT PLANNING, STRATEGY, CAR AND DRIVERS ALL ON THEIR GAME THERE IS NO REASON WHY WE CAN’T BE RIGHT UP THE POINTY END. BRING IT ON. THE RETRO CAR LOOKS REALLY FANTASTIC IT SHOWS THE HISTORY FROM WHERE ALL OF OUR PARTNERS CAME FROM BUT ESPECIALLY SHOWING PRESTON HIRE’S ORIGINS WITH THE OLD FASHIONED PRESTON ERECTION LIVERY. WE ALL PUT OUR HEADS TOGETHER TO COME UP WITH SOMETHING DIFFERENT AND I BELIEVE THIS IS GOING TO BE A REAL STAND OUT FOR THIS ICONIC EVENT. OUR TEAM CREW WILL LOOK AWESOME IN THEIR RETRO JACKETS AND HATS, SHOULD BE A LOT OF FUN!”
Holdsworth is excited to debut the new livery on track with Karl Reindler, who he will partner with in the Pirtek Endurance Cup for a second time and are only 1 of 9 driver combination pairings that remain intact from 2016.
The Duo finished P12 at the event last year despite damage and are both looking forward to hitting the track together again at Sandown to hunt for some valuable Championship Points.
Holdsworth currently sits 12th in the Championship Standings and is looking to climb into the Top Ten with some successful Race Results from the Enduro Cup.
“SO PUMPED TO KICK OFF THE ENDURANCE SEASON! THE SANDOWN 500 IS ONE OF MY FAVOURITE EVENTS AND THE RETRO THEME ADDS TO THE EXCITEMENT, ESPECIALLY WITH OUR COOL LIVERY WHICH WILL BE A BIG TALKING POINT. KARL AND I WERE PRETTY QUICK IN RACE TRIM LAST YEAR SO I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO CHALLENGING FOR A TOP RESULT.”
Preston Hire Racing will now prepare for Round 10 of the Supercars Championship at the Sandown 500 on September 15-17, with all Races to be televised LIVE on Fox Sports.
