Preston Hire Racing’s Lee Holdsworth is preparing to hunt for more speed in the Number 18 at the Sydney SuperSprint for Round 9 of the Supercars Championship.
Last year Holdsworth missed the Sydney SuperSprint due to injury, and Endurance Co-Driver Karl Reindler stepped up for the weekend.
After a tough weekend at the latest round at Queensland Raceway, Holdsworth has dropped to 13th in the Championship Standings and is aiming to get back into the Top 10.
Holdsworth’s focus for the weekend will be chasing the speed that the car lacked in Ipswich, and he is looking forward to the challenge.
“SMP IS A FUN CIRCUIT. IT’S FAST AND FLOWING WITH A FEW GREAT PASSING ZONES. HOWEVER, IT’S ALSO A VERY DIFFICULT TRACK TO NAIL THE SETUP GIVEN THE NATURE OF THE DETERIORATING TRACK SURFACE. IT’S ANOTHER EVENT I MISSED IN 2016 SO IT THROWS UP AN EXTRA CHALLENGE FOR THE TEAM THIS YEAR. I’LL BE PUSHING HARD TO BOUNCE BACK FROM OUR SPEED AT QLD RACEWAY.”
Team Owner Charlie Schwerkolt is hoping the team can make up some positions in the Championship, and is excited to see how Lee performs at one of his favourite tracks.
“HOPEFULLY ON THE REBOUND AT SYDNEY MOTORSPORT PARK. LAST YEAR WE HAD KARL REINDLER FILL IN FOR OUR INJURED LEE. LEE WILL BE REALLY PUMPED TO GET SOME GOOD RESULTS AT ONE OF HIS FAVOURITE TRACKS.”
Preston Hire Racing will now prepare for Round 9 of the Supercars Championship at the Sydney SuperSprint on August 18-20, with all Races to be televised LIVE on Fox Sports.
