Preston Hire Racing’s Lee Holdsworth is aiming to climb the Championship Standings at the Townsville 400 for Round 7 of the Supercars Championship.
Holdsworth claimed his first Pole Position in Supercars at the Townsville 400 in 2009.
After missing out on the event last year while injured, Holdsworth is looking forward to returning to the North-Eastern Queensland Street Circuit better than ever.
“I LOVE STREET CIRCUITS, ESPECIALLY THE TOWNSVILLE ONE. IT HAS ALL THE CHARACTERISTICS THAT A GREAT STREET CIRCUITS SHOULD HAVE – BUMPS, BIG KERBS, WALLS AND ALSO A GOOD VIEWING AREA FOR SPECTATORS. I HAD MY FIRST POLE POSITION AT THIS TRACK SO IT HOLDS A GREAT MEMORY FOR ME. UNFORTUNATELY I MISSED OUT ON THIS ROUND LAST YEAR SO I’M KEEN TO COME BACK STRONG AND FAST.”
At the latest Supercars Championship Round, the Darwin Triple Crown, the Preston Hire Racing Team made the Top 10 Shootout for the first time, a feat Holdsworth will again aim for this weekend.
Following Pit Stops issues in Darwin, Schwerkolt hopes that it will not be an issue this coming weekend and is looking forward to seeing the teams strategy in action.
“BRING ON NORTH QUEENSLAND. BIG WEEKEND COMING UP WITH 2 LONG RACES WITH LOTS OF STRATEGY AND HOPEFULLY WE CAN GET IN THE SHOOTOUT ON THE SUNDAY AND KEEP THE MOMENTUM ROLLING ALONG. STILL TRYING TO FINE TUNE OUR PIT STOPS AND HOPEFULLY WE’VE MADE SOME GOOD PROGRESSION WITH OUR PARTNERING TEAM BJR.”
Holdsworth and the Preston Hire Racing Team are prepared for the Townsville 400 on July 7 to 9, with all races to be televised LIVE on Fox Sports.
