Charlie has been a Team Owner since 2009 when he partnered Dick Johnson at DJR where the Number 18 claimed the Championship with James Courtney in 2010.

Schwerkolt ran his Number 18 out of Ford Performance Racing during 2012/13 seasons and at Walkinshaw Racing in 2014; and when Walkinshaw reduced their operation to 2 cars for 2016, Schwerkolt took the opportunity to form Team 18.

With the amazing support of Preston Hire as the teams naming rights sponsor, Schwerkolt was able to assemble a fantastic team that will be powered by the Championship leading Triple 8 Engineering equipment package with the current VF Commodore and full technical and engine support.

2016 marked the birth of the team in its own right, but a horror crash where driver Lee Holdsworth was sidelined for 3 months and the #18 Car was written off saw their goals for their maiden year in turmoil.

Jeff Grech has returned for his second year as Team Manager, and needs no introduction in Motorsport circles – with 8 Bathurst Wins and 8 V8 Supercar Championships under his belt.

Grech has an illustrious career from starting in America in drag racing in the early 80’s, from returning to Australia with the Holden Dealer Team (HDT) running Peter Brock and Larry Perkins before moving in 1986 to run Perkins Engineering.

Grech followed this with 15 years of Motorsport success, firstly at Gibson Motorsport running Mark Skaife and Jim Richards and then 12 years at the powerful Holden Racing Team which during this time, he helped launch the careers of several young drivers including Craig Lowndes.

2016 was Grech’s first being out of the sport since 2009, and his passion for racing has not subsided one bit and it’s safe to say that Team 18 is in the best hands in the caper for the coming year.
